My group and I took on the challenge of creating a brand new mobile app used by artists to collaborate, share, and create community. We also created a job board and daily inspiration within the app to further careers of aspiring artists
We believe in creating a space for artists to collaborate, share and find inspiration to help kickstart their art career. We want to create that community for artists and support their efforts to grow their audience.
As an artist it can be hard to build a community especially when focused on your art alone…

Goals/Needs
-wanting to find an author(s) to work with on a graphic novel
-grow social media and create a following
-better solidify her career path
-not be starving/unsupported
Pain points:
-the decline of physical media
-very difficult to make a living as a full-time artist
must use social media
-AI stealing jobs/sampling work and not giving credit
-Finding and connecting with fellow artists
-Feeling unsupported and lack of community

User Testing
During user testing, we had a few tasks that we wanted users to focus on in order to find any pain points or blockers in our prototype.
Volunteers came from a variety of backgrounds and age groups
Does the daily inspiration page make sense and is uploading user friendly?
When a user wants to edit their profile, do they run into any blockers?

We concluded...
-Need more back buttons, and eliminate dead ends
-Show how a user can make friends and follow other users
-Icons need labels
-Have the upload for daily inspiration and a personal upload separate
-Testers loved the idea of the app

Expound on the community page to have a job board so that artists can find jobs and projects that also help out people who aren’t the best with art.
Host in-person events to help break the space between the digital and physical world for artists.
Have an art supply resale page so nothing goes to waste and artists can find more cost effective mediums
